Location: New Haven CT 06511 (Hybrid)

Duration: 6-12 Months

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Data Movement Engineer to support the modernization of core data platforms for a mission-driven financial services organization. This role will focus on production support optimization and enhancement of Snowflake-based data environments and ETL pipelines. The ideal candidate is highly technical detail-oriented and comfortable working in complex enterprise data ecosystems while contributing to meaningful purpose-driven work. This position is hybrid and requires local presence in the New Haven CT area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support and optimize Snowflake-based data pipelines models and ETL/ELT processes.
• Manage end-to-end data movement operations including monitoring troubleshooting and performance tuning.
• Resolve data issues related to integrity latency failures and system performance.
• Develop and optimize SQL queries warehouse configurations and data models for scalability.
• Support CDC (Change Data Capture) SCD Type 2 Data Vault and dimensional modeling frameworks.
• Provide production support across Snowflake IBM DB2 and orchestration tools (Airflow ESP).
• Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes for recurring data issues.
• Ensure data quality through validation reconciliation and consistency checks.
• Collaborate with architects engineers and stakeholders to translate requirements into solutions.
• Support data governance including metadata management lineage and documentation.
• Maintain runbooks documentation and incident resolution procedures.
• Participate in on-call support and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
• Provide technical guidance code reviews and mentorship to junior team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 years of experience in data warehousing business intelligence or data engineering.
• 3 years of advanced SQL development across platforms such as Snowflake Oracle SQL Server or DB2.
• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (development optimization security and architecture).
• Experience with cloud data platforms and modern ETL/ELT processes.
• Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages (Python Shell).
• Familiarity with orchestration tools (Airflow ESP) and version control (Git).
• Experience with CI/CD and incident management tools (ServiceNow Jira).
• Strong understanding of Data Vault dimensional modeling CDC and SCD Type 2.
• Excellent analytical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced production-support environment.
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or related field preferred
