Job Summary
Our large and well established client is building up their team and searching for Data Center Technicians in Virgina.
Fiber Optic / Data Center Technician
Key Responsibilities
- Install splice and terminate different types of fiber optic cable including single-mode multi-mode ribbon and stranded fiber.
- Troubleshoot and resolve basic connectivity and technical issues in the field.
- Read and follow construction prints schematics test results and project documentation.
- Perform routine inspections testing and maintenance on fiber splicing and testing equipment.
- Conduct fiber testing to confirm signal quality and network performance.
- Complete fiber modifications and repairs in aerial underground buried and indoor environments.
Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of telecommunications fiber optics or related technical experience.
- Experience using fusion splicers and fiber testing equipment from manufacturers such as EXFO Sumitomo Fitel Fujikura or similar.
- Ability to understand blueprints project specifications and quality documentation.
- Knowledge of telecom cabling types and environments including CAT3 CAT5 fiber optic riser plenum and PVC cable applications.
- Familiarity with standard telecommunications color coding practices.
- Able to work independently as well as collaboratively with team members.
- Comfortable working at heights using ladders.
- Able to work safely in confined spaces when required.
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record preferred.
