Data Center Engineer West Ashburn VA - onsite 1 Month
Pay rate: $65 - $70/hr on W2
Data Center Engineer with hands-on expertise focusing on on-site physical layer duties and infrastructure support. Skilled in server and network hardware deployment other hardware installation structured cabling (fiber optic structured cabling is essential) and vendor coordination. Adept at working under the direction of Data Center Architects ensuring seamless operations and compliance with best practices. Key Responsibilities: On-Site Data Center Support: Perform physical installations structured cabling (fiber optic structured cabling is essential; 90% is fiber optic) and hardware deployments per Data Center Architects direction. Delivery & Installation Management: Accept shipments oversee the rack/stack of compute network and storage and ensure proper power and network connections. 3rd Party Coordination: Arrange access for vendors service providers and carriers while ensuring compliance with security protocols. Networking & Infrastructure: Assist with various switches and patching fiber/copper connections physical layer troubleshooting (Cisco ACI Palo Alto and F5). Hosting Partner & Carrier Liaison: Work with colocation providers and ISPs to troubleshoot connectivity and network provisioning. Physical Layer Duties: Manage structured cabling (fiber/copper) power distribution labeling and equipment mounting. Flexibility & Availability: Occasional support for night and weekend deployments maintenance windows and emergency troubleshooting as needed. Core Competencies: Hardware Experience: Console management IDRAC IBM HMC ILO AVOCENT Data Center Management: DCIM (Sunbird would be a plus). Physical Layer Duties: Rack/stack structured cabling patching labeling power distribution (Cisco Dell Palo Alto and F5). Data Center Operations: Accepting deliveries coordinating 3rd parties coordinating and overseeing installation engineers and managing access Hosting & Carrier Coordination: Working with hosting partners and telecom carriers Troubleshooting: Skilled in diagnosing cabling and connectivity issues. Availability: On-site in Ashburn VA is required. Occasional night and weekend work as required
