About the Role:

Under the immediate supervision of the Supervisor of Buildings and administrative direction of the Facilities Director the Custodian maintains a clean working environment for all staff and visitors by performing standard janitorial and grounds maintenance duties.

Key Responsibilities:

• Gather and empty wastebaskets change liners in all offices and work areas and remove trash.
• Clean and supply rest rooms with towels soap and toilet paper.
• Dust furniture and windowsills.
• Clean and polish woodwork brass marble doorplates furniture and other fixtures.
• Floor maintenance including clean sweep and mop floors; clean carpets vacuum and spot clean; using dust mops wet mops and vacuum cleaner.
• Clean and disinfect water fountains and/or water coolers.
• Move furniture with or without assistance.
• Wash building windows mirrors and elevator doors and panels.
• Sweep and clean building sidewalks and walkways using brooms or shovels.
• Remove snow from sidewalks and walkways; spread snow melting salt and chemicals.
• Empty outside trash and cigarette receptacles.
• Maintain work areas supplies and equipment in a clean orderly and proper manner; notify management of low inventory levels.
• Attend in-service training and educational sessions as assigned.
• Report malfunctioning equipment lights or plumbing.
• Clean publicly used countertops and reception counters.
• Lock and unlock assigned buildings or offices; secure building when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows; report any unauthorized occupants; turn off lights.
• Attend to cleaning emergencies when necessary.
• Safely operate all job related equipment.
• Perform additional duties and assignments as requested.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D
• Previous experience in custodial or housekeeping work preferred but not required.
• Possession of a valid Drivers License.
