The CT Technologist

• Performs a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis of patients of all ages.

• Applies knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for all patients served.

• Operates highly specialized technical equipment to obtain quality images. Performs IV contrast injections and other skills as required.

• Processes patients which may include scheduling registration file management and computer processing skills.

• Complies with all Carilion Clinic and Imaging policies procedures and regulatory guidelines.

• Participates in the training of students and staff as assigned.

• Maintains ARRT registry. Enhances personal and professional growth through participation in educational opportunities.

Education: Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology.

Experience: None.

Licensure Certification and/or Registration: Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). AHA BLS-HCP required.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates knowledge of computed tomography procedures cross-sectional anatomy radiation safety principles and contrast media administration. Ability to operate CT equipment and produce high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Strong critical thinking communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with patients of all ages and collaborate with physicians nurses and other healthcare professionals. Must be detail-oriented able to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment and committed to maintaining patient confidentiality and professional standards.
