Polytechnic School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Cross Country Coach to support our boys and girls cross country program at both the JV and varsity levels. This is a paid coaching position.


Responsibilities
Specific duties include but are not limited to the following:
Assist the head coach in planning and conducting practices workouts and training schedules
Support athletes at all levels JV and varsity boys and girls in skill development race strategy and overall athletic growth
Attend all meets practices and team events as required
Help foster a positive competitive and inclusive team culture
Communicate effectively with student-athletes parents and athletic department staff
Assist with administrative duties as needed including travel logistics and equipment management
Engage robustly in fostering diversity equity and inclusion to promote a healthy learning environment;
Willingness to take on other duties as needed.


Physical requirements and work environment
Work in an environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges and deadlines as well as a diverse array of contacts;
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds;
Work outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.

Qualifications

Prior competitive experience in cross country and/or track and field (required)
CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season (required)
Strong understanding of distance running training principles and race preparation
Ability to work with student-athletes of varying skill levels and ages
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Passion for working with and mentoring high school athletes
Demonstrated experience creating inclusive learning environments and opportunities
