COUNSELOR YOUTH COMMISSION

Town of Stoughton

The Town of Stoughton is seeking applications to fill this part time (28hrs/wk) benefitted union position. Work is generally performedin an office setting--specifically at the COA/Youth Commission building; some fieldwork is required when assisting with the Recreation Departments summer program.

Statement of Duties

• Conducts assessments and initial evaluations to understand clients mental health needs and develops personalized treatment plans;
• Provides individual and group counseling sessions to clients (13 Clients) in addition to meeting with families when necessary;
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date client records documenting sessions progress and any changes in treatment;
• Facilitates plans and schedules therapy groups;
• Meets weekly with Program Coordinator II to discuss caseload;
• Assists Youth Commission Program Coordinator II in developing policies and procedures;
• Maintains positive working relationships with all clients & their families;
• Sits on town committees as needed participates in scheduled events;
• Ensures adherence to ethical standards and legal requirements in all counseling practices;
• Assist the Recreation Department with their summer program by providing support to participants and staff as needed;
• Participates in trainings to maintain quality professional standards and licensures;
• Collaborates with multi-disciplinary teams when necessary;
• Additional responsibilities as needed.

Supervision

Reports directly to the Recreation Director and works under the supervision of the Council on Aging Administrative Director for Clinical Support

Recommended Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

Masters Degree in counseling related field required;

Valid LICSW LMHC or equivalent licensure;

Proven experience in individual or group counseling settings;

Ability to build rapport with clients and create a trusting therapeutic environment

Starting Salary range: $42-$45/HR DOQ
