This department includes state prisons with custody healthcare and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Description of Work

This position is located at Roanoke River Correctional Institution with a duty assignment to the minimum custody facility. Work in this class provides first-line supervision for Correctional Officer Is in a minimum custody facility.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Employee supervises officer activities and performance and ensures that the custody security and welfare of inmates is maintained. Employee conducts shift line -up makes shift assignments to include duty area and post; and inspects all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. This position will complete review and maintain time reports duty rosters leave schedules performance evaluations and administrative forms. This position will account for persons and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready and implement operational procedures and ensure rules and regulations are followed according to policy. At this level employees may supervise inmates in restrictive housing.

Salary Range: $37377 - $65408

About The Division of Institutions:

The Division of Institutions manages the daily operations of all state-operated prison facilities across North Carolina. Facilities are categorized by custody levels (minimum medium close) and house individuals serving sentences for felony convictions. The division provides safety security and rehabilitative services through trained custody staff program facilitators and administrative personnel.
