The Coordinator of Operations provides leadership management and administration for the Department of Physical Education and Recreation which includes staffing operations and services of a large complex department. This includes the Student Recreation Center two multi-purpose indoor recreation facilities two tennis facilities two natural turf fields four lighted synthetic turf fields and an outdoor jogging track.
The Coordinator is a member of the business and operations team and reports to the Assistant Director for Operations. This position oversees and facilitates the Department of Physical Education and Recreations largest program area open recreation. Primary service responsibilities include overseeing equipment issue weight room and cardio area open recreation and locker room operations and communications. Oversight includes the staffing and supervision of approximately 50 Operation Attendant student employees.
The Coordinator assists and supports the Assistant Director in managing the Operations program budget; supervising and mentoring a student work force; and promoting and marketing programs and services. This position assists with the review implementation and enforcement of policies and procedures for facility operations including facility access. The Coordinator also serves as the first point of contact for patrons and is responsible for ensuring that student staff meet a high standard of customer service.
Evening and weekend hours may be required. Additional hours may be required during peak periods. This position requires CPR and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain in a timely manner.
Bachelors degree in Recreation Administration/Management Leisure Studies Sports Management Business or related field.
One year of experience leading and managing staff or a work team.
Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds in support of an inclusive and welcoming environment - including co-workers faculty students and community members.
Ability to provide excellent service to internal and external customers.
Ability to coordinate and implement employee training programs.
Ability to lead the work of others balancing support coaching and accountability.
Strong skills in organization project management written and oral communication.
Ability to manage the frontline functions in retail or service environments.
Ability to work in fast paced environment while navigating shifting priorities and unexpected challenges with composure.
Masters degree in Recreation Administration/Management Leisure Studies Education Administration or related field
Experience in or demonstrated understanding of collegiate recreation facility operations student staff oversight and recruitment.
Experience with data entry and management and knowledge of standard computer software programs including word processing and business applications.
Experience in membership sales/management and oversight of frontline customer service operations.
Experience with Innosoft Fusion Recreation Management software.
