About this Opportunity
The Office of Merit Scholarships Fellowships & Awards (OMSFA) Coordinator & Advisoradvances theworkof oursmall butdedicatedscholarship advising team throughcoordinating andmanagingcommunication and outreach efforts supporting administrative elements ofscholarship application and selectionprocessesas well asengaging in scholarship advising with undergraduate students.
The OMSFA Coordinator & Advisor will also take an active role in supporting the Mary Gates Endowment for Students (MGE) scholarship programs advisingapplicants offering application support and feedback sessions toassiststudents in developing competitive applications managing websites and other communication toolsto connect with undergraduate students faculty and staff acrosscampus; and helping to plan and facilitate MGE events and scholar engagement activities. This position will also take an active role in supporting the Martin Family Foundation scholarships processes will serve as the primary advising contact for undergraduate students applying for UW nomination to the Udall Scholarship and will support other national international and internal UW scholarship application and nomination processes.
Work is largely conducted in-person with limited remote work availability.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinationand Management (60%)
- Under the direction of leadership coordinate and facilitate OMSFA programming workshop and events.
- SupportMGE Udall Martin Family Foundation and other national international and other internal UWscholarship applicationand nomination processes for undergraduate students and alumni including advertisingsolicitingand coordinating faculty staff and alumnireview committee and interview serve on review/interview committees forscholarships.
- Engage in outreach on behalf of OMSFA create OMSFA outreach materials represent OMSFA at campus events.
- Provide critical insight into strategies for intentionally incorporating DEI values into OMSFA programming and processes.
- Assistin the maintenance of scholarship databases and regular website updates collectionmanagementand evaluationto inform our work.
- Assistwith office administration including scheduling meetings tracking calendars planning eventsetc.
Advising (40%)
- Serve as a primary advisor for students seeking general scholarship information through one-on-one appointments and group sessions/events.
- Facilitate workshops information sessions and other events to assist undergraduate students in developing skills and tools relevant to undergraduate scholarships and fellowships.
- Serve as the primary scholarship advisor and contact for the Udall Scholarship conducting outreach hostingeventsand one-on-oneadvising to supportstudents in applying and coordinating with the Udall Foundation.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in any academic field.
- Two years of experience in student support servicesadvisingor program support.
Additional Qualifications
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation and public speaking experience.
- Strong problem-solving management and organizational skills.
- Ability to take initiative and to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Enjoy working with students andpossessstrong interpersonal skills including an ability to communicate effectively across diverse cultural backgrounds and life experiences.
- Team-oriented collaborative approach and a desire to interact with colleagues across departmental units.
- Well-organized efficient works well under deadlines and is attentive to details.
- Proficient with MS Word Excel and PowerPoint social media datamanagementand withwebsite content management systems ( orProcessWire).
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience in program coordination or management.
- Experience in undergraduate research leadership international education other forms of experientiallearningor a related field.
Working Conditions
- This position is located in the Center for Experiential Learning & Diversity an office suite that includes other programs that engage undergraduates in learning experiences outside the classroom. Work is largely conducted in-person with limited remote work availability.
