Job Summary

The Cook II is responsible for preparing and cooking meals in the Missions Centralized Kitchen and ensuring that the prep and cooking areas pantries freezer and fridges are clean and organized and adhere to all food safety standards.

Scheduled: Monday - Friday; 7:00AM 3:30PM

Target starting pay:$24.00 per hour

How you will serve

Preparing and cooking meals in the Missions Centralized Kitchen

Helping manage food ingredients and supplies inventory

Adherence to all Food Safety and Department of Health standards

Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment

Adherence to all kitchen operational guidelines

Helping to onboard new kitchen staff

Working with volunteers and program guests working in the kitchen

Attend all Mission meetings and training sessions as required.

Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

How you qualify

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Culinary degree or certification is strongly preferred.

3 or more years of experience in a food service or commercial kitchen environment.

Prior experience in a non-profit setting highly preferred.

Valid Serve Safe Certificate.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Possess a valid Washington State Drivers License and be able to meet the standards of the Mission driver criteria required including but not limited to:

o Clean driving record.

o Have a License for at least one year.

o No current suspensions or revocations.

o At least 21 years of age.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time in a temperature-controlled environment. Occasionally you will stand balance twist stoop kneel and reach with hands/arms. Occasionally lifts up to 30 pounds and walks use stairways to climb multiple floors within the company. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision distance vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
