As part of our commitment to excellence we are seeking a skilled Converting Unit Production Superintendent to join our team and oversee the operations of our converting unit. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to: - Assume responsibility for a designated group of employees providing support direction and enforcing work rules.
- Supervise the operations of the converting department including setting up materials for work orders assigning production orders and organizing the converting area for efficient production.
- Analyze existing business processes using various methods such as gap analysis to identify opportunities for improvement and troubleshoot root causes of losses.
- Develop short- and long-term strategies for the organization incorporating methodologies like Six Sigma and Agile to drive progress and reduce costs.
- Coordinate and lead key improvement projects across all department levels collaborating with managers to re-engineer processes.
- Monitor project progress establish measurable standards and generate detailed progress reports for management.
- Provide mentorship by coordinating workshops and team trainings sharing guidance and technical expertise and ensuring learning resources are accessible.
- Interviewing selecting recommending hiring training and supervising staff.
- Providing training for new employees on operating machines and safety procedures.
- Ensuring correct materials are delivered to appropriate machine lines.
- Responding to converting department production issues including quality control and employee concerns.
- Monitoring overnight shift shipping preparations and quality checks.
- Implementing action plans for injuries and safety-related concerns.
- Managing facility evacuation during emergencies.
- Authorizing product or machine holds when quality is questionable.
- Mentoring coaching and addressing conflicts among plant personnel.
- Coordinating and communicating work instructions during shift changes.
- Monitoring machine coverage and material needs.
- Analyzing production data to meet specifications.
- Verifying machine run speeds and changeover notifications.
- Creating daily production and downtime reports for management.
Requirements: - Associate Degree preferred; high school diploma or GED with three to five years of related experience considered.
- Strong equipment knowledge of converting technology and machinery at an operational level.
- Proficiency in data analysis Excel graphs reporting and cost analysis.
- Degree in economics or equivalent is a plus.
- Effective communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents including safety rules operating instructions and quality manuals.
- Strong mathematical abilities including proficiency in arithmetic and data analysis.
