Controller

ProspectBlue is partnering with a growing and well-established organization in the Toano VA area to identify an experienced Controller to join its leadership team.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys combining day-to-day accounting leadership with financial oversight and business partnership. The Controller will lead the accounting function ensure accurate and timely financial reporting strengthen processes and internal controls and provide financial insight to support the organizations continued growth.

• Lead the monthly quarterly and year-end financial close processes
• Oversee general ledger activity financial reporting and supporting schedules
• Review bank and corporate credit card reconciliations
• Oversee accounts payable and vendor payment processes
• Oversee sales tax filings and related compliance
• Coordinate annual tax filings and work closely with external tax advisors
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports
• Develop implement and maintain accounting policies procedures and internal controls
• Provide financial analysis and insight to support pricing profitability and business decisions
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes reporting and operational efficiencies
• Partner with senior leadership on budgeting financial planning and strategic business initiatives
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
• Lead and support the accounting team while fostering a collaborative accountable environment

• Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field
• 10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• 5 years of experience as a Controller Assistant Controller or in a similar accounting leadership role
• Strong knowledge of GAAP financial reporting and internal controls
• Proven experience leading the month-end close process
• Experience overseeing AP reconciliations sales tax compliance and external tax relationships
• Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

• CPA designation
• Experience with Epicor Kinetic ERP
• Conversational Spanish with strong English fluency

This is an onsite MondayFriday position in Toano VA. Flexibility or occasional remote days may be available based on company policy and seasonal business needs.
