WHY WE NEED YOU

The Flight Sciences division is responsible for the development and certification of Gulfstream Flight Control Laws and Automated Guidance Systemscomplex safety-critical systems that require rigorous validation and verification to ensure performance reliability and regulatory compliance.

We are seeking a Control Law Systems Engineer focused on Validation & Verification (V&V) to join our Flight Dynamics team in Savannah this role you will be responsible for ensuring control law system requirements are correct complete and properly verified in accordance with SAE ARP4754A processes.

You will work across a highly cross-functional environment partnering with Systems Engineering Flight Controls Software Test Flight Operations and external stakeholders to validate requirements define verification strategies and support certification activities including FAA audits.

WHAT YOULL DO

  • Author review and validate control law system-level requirements in IBM DOORS
  • Ensure complete requirements traceability (aircraft system software)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure requirements are clear testable and technically accurate
  • Develop and execute verification strategies using multiple methods:
    • Test bench (flight control computer / unit-level testing)
    • Linear and nonlinear analysis
    • Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and integrated ironbird testing
  • Design and execute test procedures and verification cases
  • Participate in system integration troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Identify gaps in requirements test cases or procedures and drive corrective actions
  • Generate verification reports analysis reports and certification artifacts
  • Support FAA certification activities and System Design Reviews (SDR) including:
    • Audit preparation and execution
    • Demonstrating compliance to ARP4754A processes
    • Disposition of verification or process deviations
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of V&V processes tools and methodologies

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelors degree in Aerospace Mechanical Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 18 months of related Engineering experience. Experience credit will be considered for related advance degrees limited to 2 years for Masters and 4 years for PhD in a field applicable to the job position.
  • Experience in requirements-based development validation and verification
  • Hands-on experience with IBM DOORS (or equivalent requirements tools)
  • Experience writing or executing test plans procedures and reports
  • Familiarity with system integration and verification environments
  • Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams
  • Excellent technical communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with flight control systems or control law architectures
  • Familiarity with SAE ARP4754A development processes
  • Knowledge of DO-178C and DO-331
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or system integration labs (ironbird)
  • Background in linear or nonlinear system analysis
  • Experience supporting FAA certification efforts or audits
  • Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink for analysis or verification support
  • Experience troubleshooting verification discrepancies and implementing fixes

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelors Degree Engineering or a related curriculum required or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job. 18 months related Engineering experience. Position Purpose:

Performs engineering work related to the investigation and the solution of technical problems associated with research design development service and manufacture of Gulfstream aircraft.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
  1. Solves typical engineering problems within assigned discipline .
  2. Provides technical assistance to engineering staff and contributes to completion of project milestones .
  3. Responsible for a complex engineering assignment or a full project of lesser complexity .
  4. Follows established schedules while developing plans for engineering assignments .
  5. Obtains appropriate level of supervisor approvals for work accuracy and adequacy .
  6. Proficiently applies company/organization policies and procedures .

Additional Functions:
  1. Actively works to improve daily processes and ensures all work meets customer requirements .
  2. Maintains a current and up-to-date knowledge of developments and application of technical principles theories and concepts in assigned field of expertise .

Perform other duties as assigned.

  2. Applies knowledge to provide solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity using a combination of judgment with defined practices and procedures.

  4. Ability to convey technical concepts in both written and verbal formats.
  5. Contacts are primarily within the organization with occasional customer contacts on routine issues.
  6. Works under general supervision for routine tasks of minor complexity.
  7. With supervision/mentorship can coordinate the activities for lower level engineering staff.
This job requires one to be able to read write speak and understand the English language.
