Job Summary

Thalle Construction Co. Inc. is pleased to announce a career opportunity for a Project Engineer on the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) A-2 Reservoir in Palm Beach County Florida. This project marks the largest contract in the Jacksonville Districts history. Thalle will oversee the construction of a 17.75-mile embankment dam and associated structures. Job Title: Project Engineer

Salary: Competitive compensation package based on experience.

Overview:

The Project Engineer will work primarily on night shift and will collaborate closely with the Project Manager Superintendent QC personnel and Soil Cement Team to support daily production and construction activities. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with soil cement operations and heavy civil construction and be comfortable working in a fast-paced field environment. This position reports to collaborates with and follows the direction of the Soil Cement Project Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the Soil Cement Team providing engineering and project support for daily soil cement construction operations.
  • Work primarily on night shift to support soil cement production placement and field operations.
  • Monitor daily soil cement activities to ensure production quality and schedule requirements are being met.
  • Assist with coordinating and documenting soil cement production placement materials equipment and field activities.
  • Prepare daily reports and maintain accurate documentation of soil cement operations and production quantities.
  • Monitor daily work activities and assist with production and schedule tracking.
  • Review and interpret plans specifications and drawings related to soil cement and other heavy civil construction activities.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent QC personnel field crews subcontractors and project management to address soil cement field issues and maintain production.
  • Create and manage pertinent construction documentation including submittals RFIs change orders notifications and correspondence.
  • Participate in and support daily weekly and monthly project meetings.
  • Maintain strong written and verbal communication with clients owners subcontractors vendors and project team members.
  • Complete equipment usage reports and assign appropriate equipment cost codes.
  • Ensure proper completion of equipment return and receipt reports.
  • Obtain evaluate submit and track required submittals to owners/customers.
  • Prepare monthly pay requests for Project Manager review and approval.
  • Obtain material quotes from suppliers and prepare purchase orders for approval.
  • Accurately track maintain and report material quantities used and materials on hand.
  • Prepare track and maintain project RFIs and submittals.
  • Track invoices and receipts for field purchase orders and maintain organized field purchase order files.
  • Create and file project documentation including correspondence and reports in Primavera and Expedition on a daily basis.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating construction schedules in Primavera P6.
  • Assist with and manage jobsite document control.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 2 years of relevant experience as a Project Engineer Field Engineer or QC Tech on heavy civil projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working with soil cement construction and/or soil cement field operations.
  • Primavera CPM scheduling or similar and CAD knowledge.
  • Ability to work with a fast-paced team in an aggressive construction environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience working on USACE projects.
  • Experience supervising operations teams is a plus.
  • Strong capabilities to multitask work independently under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Background check and drug testing.
  • Prior heavy civil site project experience such as water control levee concrete and mass excavation experience are a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently safely and successfully with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular punctual attendance consistent with the ADA FMLA and other federal state and local standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk listen and speak clearly on telephone.
