Our client is an established commercial general contractor and construction management firm headquartered in Mountainside New Jersey. The company delivers projects throughout New Jersey and the wider New York metropolitan market providing general contracting construction management preconstruction and design-build services.

Working across corporate healthcare retail and other commercial sectors the business has developed strong relationships with clients consultants subcontractors and trade partners. With an active pipeline of upcoming projects they are looking to add an experienced Estimator to their preconstruction team.

As an Estimator you will support projects throughout the bidding and preconstruction process from the initial review of drawings and specifications through subcontractor pricing scope analysis budget development and final bid submission.

Working closely with senior leadership preconstruction project management and field operations you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive estimates while identifying potential scope gaps project risks and value-engineering opportunities.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Reviewing drawings specifications bid documents and project requirements.
• Preparing conceptual schematic and detailed construction estimates.
• Performing quantity takeoffs and developing comprehensive project budgets.
• Soliciting subcontractor and supplier proposals across all major trade packages.
• Reviewing analyzing and leveling subcontractor bids.
• Developing detailed scopes of work and identifying exclusions overlaps and potential scope gaps.
• Supporting value-engineering and constructability reviews.
• Maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors suppliers and trade partners.
• Monitoring subcontractor coverage and following up to ensure complete and competitive pricing.
• Assisting with bid submissions clarifications and presentations.
• Working with project management and field operations during project turnover.
• Maintaining historical pricing information and supporting the continued development of internal estimating systems and processes.

• 57 years of estimating or preconstruction experience within commercial construction.
• Previous experience working for a general contractor or construction manager.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction methods materials sequencing and individual trade scopes.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural structural civil and MEP drawings and specifications.
• Experience preparing quantity takeoffs detailed estimates and project budgets.
• Proven ability to solicit analyze and level subcontractor and supplier proposals.
• Strong understanding of scope development and the ability to identify gaps overlaps and potential project risks.
• Knowledge of the New Jersey and New York subcontractor market is highly desirable.
• Commercial interiors corporate healthcare retail or comparable project experience would translate well.
• Strong communication organization and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and construction estimating software.
