Compensation: Approximately $160000 base depending on experience
We are partnering with an established growing organization to identify an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations.
This is a highly visible position for someone who enjoys being both strategic and hands-on. The Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting function while partnering with senior leadership on financial reporting budgeting forecasting cash flow operational performance and continued process improvement.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment and will have the ability to dig into the details while still understanding the larger financial picture of the business.
- Lead the companys accounting operations including general ledger month-end and year-end close
- Prepare and review monthly quarterly and annual financial statements
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
- Oversee accounts payable accounts receivable cash management and general accounting activities
- Manage budgeting forecasting and financial planning processes
- Monitor cash flow and working capital and provide leadership with forward-looking financial insight
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls accounting policies and procedures
- Analyze financial results identify trends and explain variances to senior leadership
- Partner with operational leaders to improve financial performance and profitability
- Develop meaningful KPIs and management reporting to support business decisions
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary accounting contact for external auditors
- Manage banking relationships and assist with insurance tax and other external financial relationships as appropriate
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal state and local requirements
- Evaluate existing accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency accuracy and scalability
- Support system implementations and technology improvements as the organization grows
- Recruit develop and mentor accounting team members
- Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives alongside executive leadership
The successful candidate will bring a strong technical accounting foundation along with the business judgment and communication skills necessary to operate as a trusted partner to leadership.
Qualifications include:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- Progressive accounting experience with previous Controller Assistant Controller or comparable accounting leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
- Demonstrated ownership of the month-end and year-end close process
- Experience with budgeting forecasting and cash-flow management
- Strong understanding of internal controls and accounting best practices
- Experience managing and developing an accounting team
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial executives and operational leaders
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting/ERP systems
- Strong analytical organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to balance strategic responsibilities with hands-on accounting work
CPA or public accounting experience is a plus but not necessarily required depending on the candidates overall experience.
