About this Position

The Computer Specialist is an integral role within the College of Arts and Sciences IT department. The position will:

  • Provide creative solutions for technology operations within the College of Arts & Sciences administration academic departments instructional computing labs and multimedia classrooms.
  • Provide analysis support and training for technology-related issues to college and department personnel. Technologies supported include Windows Macintosh Linux consumer and professional grade peripherals and presentation equipment.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Computer Specialist I: HS/GED and six years related experience with requirement to receive bachelors degree within six years of hire OR Bachelors degree and one year of related experience.

    Computer Specialist II: HS/GED and eight years related experience and demonstrated progress toward bachelors degree or bachelors degree and three years of related experience.

    Computer Specialist III: HS/GED and ten years related experience and demonstrated progress toward bachelors degree or bachelors degree and five years of related experience.

    Skills Proficiencies and/or Knowledge:

  • Experience with multiple computer platforms and operating systems client-based networking software (TCP/IP) MS Office Outlook internet browsers peripherals (e.g. printers scanners) and multimedia equipment (e.g. projectors document cameras).
  • Ability to follow manuals read and interpret complicated instructions.
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability and desire to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors in Technology-related areas
  • Bachelors Degree and five years related experience OR High school and 10 years related experience and demonstrated progress toward Bachelors degree
