Job Duties
Conduct computer forensic examinations and criminal investigations of child exploitation computer fraud computer trespass identity theft and other crimes within Virginias Computer Crimes Act. Undergo appropriate computer forensic examination training. Work extensively in conjunction with federal state and local law enforcement as well as computer service and Internet service providers. Speak to public groups and interact with law enforcement state prosecutors and technology-related professionals on issues related to the Internet and computer crimes on a regular basis. (Investigations are statewide and at times may cross state borders. Some overnight travel required.)
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as computer proficiency.
Additional Considerations
Minimum of one year law enforcement experience conducting computer forensics and criminal investigations including computer crime and/or child exploitation investigations is preferable.
Major course work in digital forensics will be considered.
