Job Summary

Overview

Element is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Computed Radiography (CR)Trainee to join our Hillsboro OR lab team. This position provides a unique opportunity to build a career in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) through hands-on training and certification in CR.

The successful candidate will learn to inspect critical aerospace components using advanced radiographic inspection techniques. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on technical work can maintain focus during repetitive tasks and are eager to learn specialized skills in a highly regulated environment.

Schedule & Compensation:

This position is intended to support our overnight operation.

  • Monday-Friday
  • 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM

Employees must be willing to work:

  • Overtime as required
  • Occasional weekends
  • Occasional holidays
  • Alternate schedules when operational or customer requirements demand additional support

Pay rate: $21.00-$24.00 per hour DOE $3.00 per hour night shift differential

Responsibilities

As a Trainee you will receive formal training and on-the-job experience in computed radiography inspection processes including:

  • Assisting with radiographic inspections of large aerospace and jet-engine airfoil components
  • Positioning components and imaging plates within inspection vaults
  • Operating X-ray equipment and related inspection systems in accordance with safety procedures
  • Scanning imaging plates and processing digital radiographic images
  • Reviewing images for customer-specific quality requirements
  • Following detailed inspection procedures and documentation requirements
  • Maintaining compliance with radiation safety quality and customer standards
  • Working closely with certified NDT personnel during training and certification
  • Supporting the shipment and handling of inspected parts and related documentation
  • Potentially cross-training in additional NDT methods including penetrant testing as business needs require
Skills / Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to learn technical concepts and procedures quickly
  • Basic computer proficiency and comfort using software-based systems
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to following procedures
  • Ability to maintain concentration during repetitive work activities
  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance
  • Ability to work independently after training

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
  • Ability to safely handle and position large aerospace components
  • Ability to move throughout the lab environment frequently
  • Capability to perform work requiring physical stamina and attention to detail
