Composites Specialist

The Opportunity:

CACI is seeking a skilled Composites Specialist to join our team in support of prototype development and low-rate production of unmanned aerial systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with composite layup tooling preparation part trimming and finishing and minor structural repairs. This role requires attention to detail the ability to interpret engineering drawings and build instructions and a strong background in composite fabrication processes used in aerospace applications.

Responsibilities:

• Perform layup and fabrication of composite parts using wet layup vacuum bagging and other composite techniques
• Prepare molds and tooling for use in fabrication including cleaning sealing and applying release agents Trim fit and finish composite components using hand tools and power tools by engineering requirements
• Interpret and follow build instructions engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Identify and report fabrication defects or deviations from design specifications
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety and quality standards
• Work collaboratively with engineers and other technicians to support rapid prototyping and production builds

Qualifications:

Required:

• Active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain one
• Experience in composite part fabrication including layup vacuum bagging curing and trimming
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings build instructions and technical specifications
• Familiarity with the use of composite materials such as fiberglass carbon fiber epoxy resins and core materials
• Proficiency with hand and power tools used for trimming sanding and finishing composite parts
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain quality standards in a fast-paced production environment
• Ability to lift and manipulate medium to large parts and work in a shop environment

Desired:

• Experience supporting prototype or low-rate production builds in an aerospace or defense environment
• Knowledge of composite repair techniques and rework procedures
• Familiarity with pre-preg layup and oven/autoclave curing processes
• Experience documenting fabrication processes or contributing to build documentation
