Community Development Advocate

Position Summary:FACETS is hiring a mission-driven Education and Community Development Advocate (ECD). The ECD Advocate works within the Education and Community Development (ECD) department which assesses the needs of diverse populations residing in public housing communities in Fairfax County. Education and Community Development (ECD) advocates will engage clients in areas such as case management and adult/youth programming that work to serve and better strengthen the communitys abilities to walk up and out of poverty. ECD advocates will also be responsible for overseeing volunteer staff and ensuring the effective growth learning and development of any interns placed within the department and their respective community position is visible to the general public and is subject to interruptions from walk-in traffic and telephone calls. High standards of courtesy performance and respect for confidentiality are essential. Independent judgment is required for appropriate decision making problem solving and priority the Organization:FACETS is a non-profit organization that opens doors by helping parents their children and individuals who suffer the effects of poverty in Fairfax County. We meet their emergency needs through our wrap around services and community partnerships and help individuals and families experience safe and stable housing after years of uncertainty and instability.
