Communications Specialist, Financial Affairs

Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Administration Financial Affairs the Communications Specialist will serve as the primary creator and curator of print and digital content for the Financial Affairs department and will administer the departments website social media channels and digital outreach. This position serves as a strategic partner to the Financial Affairs leadership team creating high-quality content across internal and external channels and advancing the mission and vision of Financial Affairs. The successful candidate will demonstrate: A commitment to creative problem-solving and an ability to manage time and multiple projects under tight deadlines. Fluency in artificial intelligence concepts and tools and be eager to leverage AI in innovative ways to enhance communications provide training and support strategic outreach. The ability to support cross-unit communication and collaboration efforts related to key departmental and external departmental initiatives and priorities. This position involves managing sensitive and confidential information and requires the ability to work adeptly and professionally exercising sound judgment.
Major duties of this position also include:
- Develop and execute communications strategies to promote key initiatives campus-wide and other events conferences speaker series and special initiatives which are of interest to members of the Financial Affairs team.
- Create manage and monitor Financial Affairs social and digital presence.
- Oversee digital publications for social media and CFO webpages and other platforms (LinkedIn Twitter Facebook Instagram and other social networking sites etc.).
- Drafts designs and distributes internal newsletters that increase staff members understanding of the distinct functions of Financial Affairs and how it impacts them; generates staff engagement aggregates essential information and resources and foster inclusion belonging and a sense of community within the department.
- Performs other administrative duties as assigned
Pay Range: Salary grade: 48 Annual salary range: Minimum $61200 Midpoint $82700 Maximum $104100 Note: Salary is based on related experience expertise and internal equity; new hires can expect an initial annual salary which is between the minimum and midpoint of the range above ($70k - $80k). Boston University supports a flexible work environment for authorized staff members. This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (i.e. remote work up to two (2) days per week) after completion of a successful observation period.
Required Skills:
- Bachelors degree preferably in marketing communications journalism public affairs or a related field. 3-5 years of experience with demonstrated proficiency in: Public speaking written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Professionalism good judgment and integrity Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High degree of discretion; experience managing confidential information.
- Collaborative working style and the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across a variety of functional areas with colleagues of all levels. Excellent organizational skills attention to detail ability to multitask and work under pressure self-motivation high energy and engagement and a positive attitude.
- Demonstrate strong writing and copy/editing skills and a proven understanding of how to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders to execute complex communications plans.
- Experience producing content for digital platforms including websites (WordPress) and social media platforms (Facebook Twitter other social networking) website content management systems and digital analytics tools.
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop Illustrator InDesign Premiere Pro and After Effects preferred); Html-based website publishing software (WordPress preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to perform complex administrative duties including written and verbal communications on sensitive and confidential financial and human resource matters.
- A willingness to learn new processes programs and systems.

- Experience in an academic or research environment.
