Communications and Content Coordinator

Position Summary

The College of Nursing is hiring a Communications and Content Coordinator to assist with content creation and distribution across our various channels. This position is an important role in our ability to tell the story of the College of Nursing raising our visibility and advancing our reputation. This individual will be creative and show self-initiative have experience in journalistic storytelling and be social media savvy. The ideal candidate must be collaborative and be able to manage and execute several tasks simultaneously. This position is a hybrid role with an expectation of at least three days per week on campus including traveling locally to capture stories.

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Identify and produce attention-grabbing content both written and visual for but not limited to newsletters and other communications
  • Serve as social media lead for college stakeholders including faculty staff and students in content creation
  • Uses agentic AI to deliver personalized engagement in communications and marketing
  • Participates or leads marketing-communications intake meetings with clients; then assists in creating post meeting communications and marketing materials
  • Plans coordinates aggregates and/or produces and posts content across social media networks to connect with and engage key audiences
  • Design and distribute internal and external newsletters
  • Coordinate merchandise purchases in college for events and recruitment
  • Participate in and covers college hosted events and activities
Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year degree program in Communications Telecommunications Journalism Marketing or Public Relations. Six months or more of experience in internal communications; news broadcasting and print media and/or marketing advertising and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation software; spreadsheet and/or database software; media relations; public presentation; or radio presentation.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelors degree in marketing journalism communications or public relations. A minimum of two years of experience in marketing and communications preferably in higher education and/or health care. Proven experience working with traditional and emerging communications and marketing tools including AI-based platforms and Adobe products (Photoshop Premiere Pro etc.) Canva Facebook Business Instagram LinkedIn Mailchimp Microsoft products (including SharePoint) Sitecore Sprout Social TikTok YouTube X AI tools and more.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information for a wide range of audiences. Demonstrated copyediting and proofreading skills and knowledge of AP style. Strong public speaking and presentation skills would be a plus. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Ability to work in a fast-paced evolving environment with a proactive approach to identifying new opportunities and adapting to changing needs.
