Job Summary

Overview:

Egan Company is seeking an experienced Commercial Electrician to support our growing electrical construction team in the Raleigh-Durham area. This position will perform electrical installations on active commercial projects including conduit wire lighting distribution equipment and related systems. We need someone who can read construction drawings work safely and productively with limited supervision and consistently deliver quality craftsmanship. This is a full-time field position with standard daytime hours Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities:

The basic responsibilities of the Commercial Electrician include but are not limited to the following:

  • Install maintain and repair electrical systems in commercial buildings and facilities.

  • Bend and install EMT IMC and rigid conduit.

  • Install conductors panels lighting devices branch circuits and related electrical equipment.

  • Read and interpret electrical drawings blueprints specifications and technical diagrams.

  • Perform layout rough-in trim-out testing and troubleshooting of commercial electrical systems.

  • Ensure all work meets or exceeds NEC requirements local building codes and Egan quality standards.

  • Follow established safety procedures and prioritize safety on every jobsite.

  • Coordinate with foremen project managers customers facility personnel and other trades to complete work safely and efficiently.

Commercial electricians interested in expanding their careers will have opportunities to gain experience with industrial electrical systems motor controls VFDs PLC and HMI hardware automation systems and manufacturing environments through hands-on work training and mentoring.

Position Requirements

Education Training Skills and Licensing Requirements

  • Commercial electrical experience required; industrial experience is not required.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and work collaboratively within a team.

  • Commitment to working safely and following all company and jobsite safety requirements.

  • Valid North Carolina Electrical license preferred but not required.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily in active commercial construction sites and occupied commercial facilities. You may be exposed to noise dust and varying temperatures depending on the project phase.

  • Ability to stand walk kneel and crouch for extended periods while installing conduit wiring devices and electrical equipment.

  • Ability to lift carry and push/pull tools and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.

  • Precise fine-motor skills required for terminating conductors installing devices and working within electrical panels and equipment.

  • Comfort working at heights using ladders aerial lifts and scaffolding.

  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats safety glasses steel-toed boots and arc-flash protection as dictated by the task and OSHA standards.
