$27.00 - $39.92 Hourly


Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

DEPARTMENT: Finance

HOURS OF WORK: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

LOCATION: City Hall - 632 W 6th Ave

Employees who are hired or rehired to any position shall be placed at the entrance pay step and advancement from the entrance step to the maximum step within a pay grade shall be by successive steps.

Example of Duties

The Collector position is responsible for efficiently and accurately completing a wide range of collection duties focusing on Delinquent Criminal and Civil Fines and Fees (DCF) as well as other debt due to the Municipality. Under minimal supervision responds timely to customer inquiries by phone email/mail or in person; operates as a cashier by processing payments at public counter as well as mailed payments; performs research and skip-tracing on cases sent for collection from the State of Alaska Court; update the CourtView database with the most current information as well as noting cases with necessary information to track collections process. Collector maintains cases by processing bankruptcy notifications court-ordered adjustments and death notices. Assures all payments are accurately and timely posted and refunds are issued when necessary. This position is critical in the filing of writs of garnishment to the State of Alaska PFD Division and the application of garnished funds received to the defendants cases. Posts payments received from the Municipalitys third-party collection agency to the CourtView database and reconciling balances between the two. Other duties as assigned.
