Code Inspector I

The Township is seeking qualified candidates for a full time Code Inspector I. Candidate will be under direction and supervision and will conducts inspections throughout the Township to identify violations of codes ordinances and regulations. Responds to public complaints and works with property owners to correct violations. Issues notices and summonses for non-compliance identifies unsafe or unsanitary conditions and appears in Municipal Court as required. Provides information to property owners developers Township officials and the public regarding code requirements and assists with applications. Maintains inspection records prepares reports and correspondence and performs related duties as required. Applicants must possess one year of experience in law enforcement code enforcement or general building or property inspections or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of municipal codes and ordinances computer skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the public are preferred. Appointees must possess a valid New Jersey drivers license.

The Code Inspector I position is aligned with the TWU bargaining unit at a Grade 15 step 1 with a starting annual salary of $43969. Said position is Monday through Friday 8:30am-4:30pm with a one hour unpaid lunch. All interested candidates shall complete an online Township application and attach a resume.
