Job Summary
Position SummaryThe CNC Machinist Lathe is responsible for setting up operating and monitoring CNC turning equipment to manufacture precision components that meet engineering specifications quality standards and production requirements. This role requires strong technical aptitude attention to detail and a commitment to safe and efficient machining ResponsibilitiesSet up operate and monitor CNC lathes (including turning centers) to produce precision partsInterpret engineering drawings blueprints GD&T and job travelersLoad CNC programs set tooling adjust offsets and perform tool changes as requiredConduct firstarticle inspections and inprocess quality checks using precision measuring instruments (e.g. micrometers calipers bore gauges)Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finishIdentify troubleshoot and report machining or equipment issues related to tooling materials or programsPerform minor program edits at the machine where authorizedEnsure parts meet quality tolerance and finish requirements before releaseMaintain accurate production and quality documentationKeep work areas clean organized and compliant with safety requirementsFollow all company policies procedures and occupational health and safety regulationsContribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to quality productivity and safetyQualifications & SkillsRequired:High school diploma or equivalentCompletion of a machinist apprenticeship or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum 2 years of experience operating CNC lathesStrong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specificationsDemonstrated proficiency using precision measuring equipmentSolid understanding of turning processes tooling feeds speeds and materialsHigh level of accuracy attention to detail and quality focusPreferred:Journeyperson Machinist certification or Red Seal (where applicable)Experience with CNC controls such as Fanuc Haas Siemens or similarExperience machining tight-tolerance or complex componentsWorking knowledge of Gcode and basic CNC programming principlesExperience with live tooling subspindles or multiaxis lathesPhysical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to stand and move for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodationManual dexterity and good handeye coordinationWork performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise rotating equipment metal chips oils and coolantsHealth & SafetyThe CNC Machinist Lathe is responsible for complying with all applicable occupational health and safety legislation company safety policies and PPE requirements to maintain a safe Fredericks Manufacturing LLC has an industry competitive extended health and benefits plan & pays 100% of Medical and Dental premiums for employees.
