Job Summary
A CNC Machinist is responsible for operating Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines to manufacture precise and complex parts or components.
Main Responsibilities:
- Operate CNC Machines: Set up and operate CNC machines (mills lathes grinders etc.) to produce parts based on engineering drawings and specifications.
- Programming: Write or edit CNC programs using software like G-code or CAD/CAM systems to control the machines operations.
- Setup and Calibration: Install and secure tools fixtures and parts into the CNC machine; calibrate machines to ensure correct measurements.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products for quality using measurement tools (micrometers calipers gauges etc.) to ensure that parts meet the required specifications and tolerances.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix any issues with the CNC machine including adjusting machine settings or replacing parts when necessary.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment such as cleaning lubricating and replacing worn-out parts.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret and work from engineering drawings blueprints and sketches to determine dimensions tolerances and machining processes.
- Material Handling: Select and load raw materials (metals plastics etc.) into the machine.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers supervisors and other team members to ensure that production targets are met.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of the machining process production runs and any quality issues that arise.
Qualifications :
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Certification in CNC machining (preferred such as from the National Institute for Metalworking Skills - NIMS)
Experience:
Minimun 2 years of relevant experience in CNC machining or a related field.
