Summary of Job Duties:
The Clinical Integration Specialist (CIS) located at UAMS Health Benton/Bryant is a licensed nurse who functions within the three spheres of influence: patient nurse and system and must possess advanced knowledge of nursing practice and the ability to apply standards within the ambulatory practice areas.

The CIS functions independently to provide theory and evidence-based knowledge that shapes the practice and core competencies of the nursing staff. The CIS provides area leadership in collaboration with the administrative leaders focusing on orientation professional development skills/competency validation evidence-based practice shared governance regulatory compliance nurse-sensitive quality indicators and performance improvement. The CIS collaborates with the multidisciplinary team and functions in the healthcare system as a leader consultant and change agent and therefore must possess strong communication and problem-solving skills.

The Clinical Integration Specialist is responsible for working independently and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to identify clinical problems prioritize needs develop and implement interventions and evaluate the process.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSN Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Education special or professional: National Certification or the ability to test within one year of hire.
  • Four (4) years of clinical experience with two (2) years in specialty area and two (2) years in a leadership role.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Arkansas.
  • Current BLS by date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in nursing preferred.
  • Project management or knowledge of Quality Improvement/Process Improvement processes.
  • Experience in an academic medical setting.


Special knowledge abilities and skills:

  • Able to follow oral and written instructions and communicate with others effectively.
  • Ability to document services provided.
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance organizations/agencies.
  • Preferred applicants are knowledgeable in medical terminology.
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Understands and abides by confidentiality policies.

Performs the Role of Clinical Integration Specialist

  • Assesses and designs training and/or educational programs to address identified deficiencies/learning needs.
  • Understands and assures the use of adult learning principles and culturally appropriate initiatives and imparts this knowledge to faculty/staff as appropriate.
  • Identifies barriers or concerns that interfere with the learning process and suggests alternatives for resolution; consults with departments staff and managers to determine goals.
  • Establishes and leads process improvement initiatives.

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium Work Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and/or visual inspection at distances close to the eyes.
  • The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
