Department Summary

The Counseling Program is housed in the Department of Counseling and Higher Education and offers an undergraduate minor in counseling and masters and doctoral degrees in counseling. The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) has conferred accreditation on the following tracks in the counseling program at UNT: clinical mental health counseling school counseling and the PhD in counseling. The UNT Counseling Program is consistently ranked as one of the top counseling programs in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report and . The UNT Counseling Program has been recognized with the Association for Counselor Education and Supervisions Outstanding Program Award.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish Vietnamese American Sign Language Chinese (Cantonese Mandarin and other variations) Arabic Tagalog Farsi French or/and Yoruba.

Position Overview

The Counseling Program at UNT seeks two Clinical Assistant Professors with a demonstrated record of strength in counseling clinical supervision leadership and teaching to support the programs professional and academic initiatives. These positions will contribute to the program college and universitys commitment to maintain excellence at the national level. The individual selected will serve a nine-month professional faculty appointment. Part-time summer teaching is contingent upon student demand and funding.

Primary responsibilities include:
1) providing clinical supervision to masters and doctoral level students;
2) advising/mentoring students;
3) serving on dissertation committees;
4) working with faculty members in the Counseling Program and with those centers institutes and clinics affiliated with the Program to maintain and enhance the Programs national stature;
5) participating actively on university committees and in professional counseling organizations;
6) teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program by start of employment; demonstrate a record of effective teaching supervision and professional activity; and must demonstrate strength and flexibility to teach across the CACREP core including both clinical and didactic courses.

Preferred Qualifications

Designation as a Licensed Professional Counselor Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor.

Hold a current Certified School Counselor credential in the state of Texas.
