Job Summary

Overview

The Client Account Manager is responsible for managing the full financial lifecycle of a client - from matter intake through billing and on to collection for a certain set of Billing Attorneys and their PAs. Assigned to one of the billing teams this individual will collaborate with both internal and external Finance groups including Billing Revenue Matter Information Appeals and Accounts Receivable.

Core responsibilities include serving as the single point of contact and escalation resource for assigned Billing Attorneys and their Practice Assistants; conducting monthly check-ins to ensure billing processes are functioning correctly; directing the triage of financial inquiries across Finance groups; conducting high-profile client audits; and managing reversal projects.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the single point of contact and escalation resource for assigned Billing Attorneys and their Practice Assistants for all financial-related inquiries that involve multiple departments including but not limited to matter information billing rejections accruals and AR.
    • Triage attorney questions by coordinating with the appropriate departments to resolve inquiries.
    • Act as liaison between all financial services departments ensuring work is completed on time andaccurateresolution of questions and disputes.
  • Manage reversal projects from end to end overseeing the billing component and serving as the primary liaison with other departments to ensure coordinated and timely completion.
  • Perform periodic billing audits on high-profile clients to ensure accuracy identify risk areas and confirm compliance with client-specific billing guidelines.
    • Work with the rejection team to research and resolve eBilling rejections by performing root-cause analysis and providing resolution.
  • Oversee the initial electronic bill submission process for newly e-billed high-profile clients including supervising the penny test process to verify accurate system setup before full billing.
  • Meet monthly with assigned Billing Attorneys and their Practice Assistants to review account status address outstanding issues and confirm that all billing and collection processes are functioning correctly.
  • Support the assigned Billing Team with invoice management as needed.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Accounting or Finance.
  • 6 years legal billing.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel (formulas pivot tables and filters).
  • Working knowledge of Aderant and BillBlast.
  • Experience with PrebillViewer (PBV) preferred.
  • Experience with electronic billing systems such as Legal Tracker LegalX Collaborati TyMetrix etc. preferred.
  • Prior experience with the collection of outstanding AR preferred.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication abilities with the confidence to engage effectively with attorneys practice assistants and cross-functional Finance teams while maintaining a professional and solutions-oriented demeanor.
  • Workload Management: Capable of prioritizing tasks efficiently and adapting to a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-Motivation: A highly motivated self-starter who excels with minimal supervision and takes a proactive approach in team settings.
  • Organizational Skills: Exhibits exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Initiative and Judgment: Takes initiative exercises good judgment and demonstrates excellent follow-up skills.
  • Rates Knowledge: Understanding of rates fee offers and various rate-related nuances in accordance with firm procedure and client guidelines.
  • Problem Solving: The ability to apply a logical thought process to unique and varied requests and determine the next step using best practice protocol within a legal billing environment.
