Job Summary

The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Classroom Support Specialist to join the Educational Support Services this role you will provide frontline support for classrooms conference rooms and event spaces ensuring audio visual presentation and lecture capture technologies operate seamlessly. You will troubleshoot technical issues provide user training support hybrid and online events and partner with faculty staff and event organizers to deliver high-quality educational experiences. The ideal candidate is a customer-focused technology professional who enjoys solving problems working collaboratively and helping others make effective use of instructional and event technologies.

The job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing AV support for classrooms conference rooms and event spaces to ensure reliable operation of teaching and presentation technologies.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving AV web conferencing and classroom technology issues in real time with a customer-focused approach.
  • Supporting setup execution and breakdown of hybrid in-person and virtual events including conferences educational programs and testing.
  • Performing routine system checks preventative maintenance repairs and inventory management for AV equipment.
  • Providing user training and guidance on instructional and collaborative technologies while partnering with IT and ESS staff to enhance teaching and learning environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree and 2 years of experience in audiovisual technology instructional technology IT or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of audio visual technologies including projection systems cameras microphones audio processing and mixing equipment sound reinforcement lighting and presentation technologies.
  • Experience supporting web conferencing and collaboration platforms such as Zoom Webex Microsoft Teams or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting lecture capture and educational technology platforms such as Panopto or comparable systems.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure and provide confident customer-focused support.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other standard business software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with faculty staff students and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in higher education A/V support.

Important Details about the Position

  • This is an onsite position located in Ithaca NY.
  • We are unable to provide Visa sponsorship now or in the future for this position.
  • Relocation assistance will not be provided for this position.

While the regular business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm the specific schedule may change to meet the needs of the business requiring employees to work early mornings evenings weekends and University holidays and scheduled breaks.
