This position supports the VTrans Materials & Research Section by performing technical review development coordination and maintenance of materials-related specifications acceptance requirements and program documentation. Work includes reviewing and revising standard and special specifications for accuracy consistency and compliance with Agency requirements and applicable industry standards as well as establishing and evaluating material acceptance criteria and coordinating with internal staff and external stakeholders to support effective specification development and implementation.
The position also supports the organization and delivery of materials-related components of digital construction plan sets in accordance with Agency digital delivery addition it maintains and manages key materials program documentation to ensure information remains current properly controlled and aligned with Agency procedures. The work involves cross-functional coordination to support consistent application of materials requirements and effective delivery of construction and materials information.
As a member of the Construction and Materials Bureau this position contributes to critical components of project delivery by supporting the processes standards and coordination necessary for successful transportation construction. The work performed in this role helps ensure consistency quality and efficiency from project development through construction ultimately supporting the Highway Divisions mission of delivering reliable transportation infrastructure.

Duties are generally performed in both office and field settings for which private means of transportation must be available. Fieldwork may involve exposure to hazardous materials traffic hazards and construction sites during all weather conditions and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours including attendance at public meetings may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered on a regular basis.
Bachelors degree in civil engineering construction management architectural engineering or related technical field.
OR
Associates degree in civil engineering construction management architectural engineering or related technical field AND two (2) years of experience in engineering OR licensure as an Engineer Intern.
OR
College senior in the final year of a bachelors degree program in civil engineering construction management architectural engineering or related technical field.
Candidate in final year of bachelors degree must successfully graduate prior to start date.
