Responsibilities
- Execute core transportation design tasks including geometric alignments 3D roadway modeling (OpenRoads Designer) pavement design right-of-way planning and maintenance of traffic (MOT).
- Perform hydrology calculations and design storm water drainage systems for roadway alignment projects.
- Prepare accurate construction quantity takeoff calculations cost estimates and technical design evaluations under senior mentorship.
- Build comprehensive knowledge of West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOH) project development procedures and deliverables.
- Participate in client and public meetings coordinating across multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) or Master of Science (MS) in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- Entry-level to 5 years of relevant experience in transportation or roadway engineering design.
- Ability to obtain Engineer in Training (EIT / EI) certification required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in West Virginia (or pathway toward licensure) strongly encouraged and supported.
- Proficiency in or willingness to learn OpenRoads Designer (experience with MicroStation AutoCAD Civil 3D or InRoads is a plus).
- Familiarity with WVDOH project development processes AASHTO design guidelines CAD standards and right-of-way plans preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication time management andthe ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
