Job Summary

About Us

Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 60 countries draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.

About the Role

The Client Platform is responsible for driving meaningful client engagement across the full client lifecycle from prospecting and business development to ongoing relationship management and client servicing. The platform supports the firms Sales and Marketing organizations Product Management and Product Development teams Global Funds business and Client Servicing functions in delivering exceptional experiences to prospective and existing clients.

The center of gravity for growth is shifting. Institutional relationships remain the foundation of the firm but the fastest-growing pools of capital wealth (including next-generation and mass-affluent investors) intermediary and advisor channels DC/retirement insurance and OCIO increasingly determine where the firm wins share. These segments do not want the same thing institutional clients want: they want outcomes (retirement income tax efficiency personalization) delivered through a blend of digital self-service and human advice at a scale and cost point institutional servicing was never built for. Wealth and intermediary distribution is not a footnote to this role it is the primary growth vector the role exists to serve alongside continued excellence in institutional and OCIO servicing.

The Head of Client Platform Technology owns the engineering architecture and delivery organization behind this shift not the Product Owner role itself. Product Owners across the Client Platform own the business case: they set the outcome prioritize the roadmap and answer for what gets built and why. The Head owns how it gets built the technology strategy architecture platform investment and delivery organization required to turn PO-committed outcomes into shipped scaled capability. This is a delivery-leadership role defined by that partnership: the Head is accountable for delivering against outcomes the POs own not for setting those outcomes unilaterally. The Head partners closely with Product Owners and business stakeholders across Sales Marketing Product Management Client Servicing and Global Funds and with technology peers across the firm the Chief Architect the CIOs of the Investment and Infrastructure Platforms Information Security and Data Privacy to deliver secure scalable and differentiated capability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The responsibilities and expectations of the role include but are not limited to:

1. Client Platform Technology Strategy & Delivery Leadership

  • Own the technology strategy for the Client Platform end to end translating Product Owner-committed business outcomes institutional wealth/intermediary DC insurance and OCIO into an architecture platform investment plan and delivery roadmap that gets there.
  • Act as the technology delivery counterpart to Product Owners across the Client Platform: POs own the business case and the outcome; this role owns the engineering architecture and delivery capability that builds it and is accountable for delivering against PO-committed outcomes on time and at quality.
  • Lead and develop the engineering architecture and delivery leadership across the platform and partner with the Product Owner for every major product area to ensure delivery plans are built against durable outcome-based roadmaps rather than project backlogs.
  • Make and defend buy-versus-build recommendations across the platforms technology portfolio in partnership with the accountable Product Owner with a clear bar for when internal build (including AI-accelerated build) beats licensing and vice versa.

2. Wealth & Intermediary Growth Technology

  • Build and evolve the technology that supports institutional intermediary and wealth distribution as distinct disciplines with distinct requirements not a single undifferentiated sales stack.
  • Own the roadmap for advisor- and platform-facing capability: model portfolio and UMA delivery tax-aware and direct-indexed personalization at scale and integration with the RIA custodial and wealth-platform ecosystems our distribution partners run on.
  • Treat implementation as the product for private markets sold into wealth-friendly (evergreen and semi-liquid) vehicles: subscription processing capital calls distributions tax reporting and investor servicing are operationally heavier than long-only and this org is accountable for getting ahead of that demand rather than discovering it after the first large raise.
  • Partner with distribution sales and client-facing business leaders to translate advisor engagement and client acquisition goals into technology investment and to make deliberate build/buy/partner calls on the ecosystem connections that determine whether we win share in wealth.

3. AI-Native Distribution & Client Engagement

  • Own an AI-native roadmap for the platform not an AI pilot list: client intelligence (automated meeting prep relationship summaries white-space identification) proposal and RFP automation next-best-action prompts surfaced inside the CRM workflow and a solutions configurator that lets a generalist credibly assemble a multi-asset proposal without pulling in specialists for the first conversation.
  • Set a clear bar distinguishing AI pilots run for learning from AI capability shipped against committed business outcomes and report against that distinction rather than adoption metrics alone.
  • Ensure AI-native design is the default posture for new capability the sequencing question is what to make AI-native first not whether to retrofit AI onto an existing process later.

4. Data Fabric & Platform Integration

  • Build the client-centric data fabric that gives the firm a single coherent view of a client relationship across CRM portfolio management reporting and billing the foundation for a true global account view and coordinated coverage.
  • Establish an internal API and event layer so that state changes a mandate funding a servicing request a distribution event propagate automatically across systems rather than requiring manual reconciliation.
  • Leverage data analytics and emerging technologies as a coherent platform capability not a set of point solutions bolted onto individual business functions.

5. Marketing & Servicing Technology Partnership

  • Partner with Product Management Product Development and Marketing leadership to define and grow the technology platforms underpinning content campaign and marketing operations working through dedicated Product Owners accountable for those domains.
  • Partner with Client Servicing leadership to define and execute a best-in-class client servicing platform spanning institutional intermediary and wealth service models.
  • Stay current on market trends competitive capability and client and advisor feedback and actively incorporate that intelligence into a continuously evolving solution set.

6. Risk Control & Technology Governance

  • Hold first-line risk and control accountability for the Client Platforms technology estate in line with the firms engineering risk framework and ensure control obligations are delivered on time rather than treated as a secondary concern.
  • Own program-level governance across the platforms technology investment portfolio ensuring capital is allocated against the highest-leverage outcomes and reallocated when it isnt.
  • Manage vendor relationships and large-scale contract negotiations across the platforms technology stack and establish an external network of peers to inform strategy and strengthen negotiating position.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Results-oriented technology leader with a proven track record leading client-facing technology organizations at scale ideally spanning both institutional and wealth/intermediary distribution.
  • Direct experience with the wealth and intermediary technology ecosystem RIA and custodial platform integration model delivery digital advisor tools and personalization at scale not solely institutional sales technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a technology delivery organization that partners with Product Owners on committed business outcomes comfortable owning architecture delivery and the engineering roadmap while Product Owners own the business case and the outcome.
  • Track record deploying AI as a structural capability inside client-facing workflows client intelligence proposal automation next-best-action with the judgment to distinguish real capability from pilot theater.
  • Strong communication negotiation and stakeholder-influence skills across sales marketing product servicing risk and technology leadership.
  • Understanding of asset management industry data and the operational realities of servicing private markets and alternative vehicles within wealth-friendly structures.
  • Advanced knowledge of best-in-class CRM marketing and client servicing technologies (e.g. Salesforce Adobe Experience Manager Salesforce Marketing Cloud Seismic) is a strong plus.
  • Experience with vendor relationship management and large-scale contract negotiation.
