What Youll Do

As a member of our network you will be matched with opportunities to teach Chess to K-12 students at schools buildings and communities across NYC. These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks.

As an after school instructor youll have the following responsibilities:

Develop age-appropriate Chess curriculum for after-school students
Lead weekly in-person classes with enthusiasm and expertise
Establish a well-structured and lively classroom that keeps students engaged
Foster a positive supportive and encouraging learning environment for students of varying skill levels
Build connections with students in a warm and inclusive environment
Track student growth and offer positive helpful feedback
Arrive prepared on time and ready to teach
Create a memorable experience for the children in your class

Who You Are

A fun enthusiastic adaptable instructor with experience teaching school age children and who:

Has subject matter expertise in Chess
Has a passion and skill for building hands-on projects with kids
Has excitement joy and passion for both teaching kids and personal development/learning
Knows how to create a fun structured and inclusive classroom environment
Brings your own voice and creativity to each class you teach
Is cooperative supportive flexible
Is dependable proactive and thrives when given autonomy and also appreciates support and clear expectations

$30 - $40 an hour

Assistants in the Togetherhood network are paid per class. Most classes are one hour. This is contracted supplemental 1099 work.
