Chemist

AdvanSix is seeking a highly motivated entry-level bench chemist to support its 24/7 unionized laboratory at the caprolactam manufacturing plant in Hopewell Virginia. The laboratory performs in-process and finished-product testing. This position is one of two analyst roles that support the ammonia and sulfuric acid production units. The chemist will work a rotating two-week schedule: Monday through Friday during the first week followed by Monday through Wednesday and Saturday and Sunday during the second week. Standard work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Occasional overtime outside these hours may be required based on business responsibilities include performing routine instrumental and wet-chemistry analyses to support ammonia and sulfuric acid production and recording the results electronically. The chemist will also prepare and document laboratory solutions reagents and quality-control check standards; collect samples as needed; and conduct environmental compliance testing at field locations throughout the position is part of the Hopewell Quality Assurance team which includes four additional chemists and approximately 30 union laboratory technicians. This role may provide opportunities for advancement into other chemist positions within Hopewell or the companys broader analytical groups and Qualifications:Associate of Science degree or higher in chemistry; a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry is or more years of laboratory experience is preferred; relevant college laboratory experience will be ability to work safely and follow good chemical hygiene with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and use a laboratory information management system (LIMS).Ability to work independently manage multiple tasks and prioritize work to communicate and collaborate effectively with both unionized and non-unionized to work the rotating schedule described above and occasional overtime as required by business Skills:Coursework or hands-on experience in quantitative chemical analysis including colorimetric titrimetric and gravimetric or hands-on experience operating spectrophotometers or gas to develop training materials and instruct with ISO 9001:2015 or a similar quality management with environmental testing expected base pay for this position is $62200 $93400
