Job Summary

Responsible for disassembling cleaning and decontamination of instrumentation both in the Operating Room and the Central Processing area.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Decontaminate clean inspect process and assemble surgical instrumentation for the Operating Room Central Processing area and durable patient care equipment.
  2. Understand be responsible and operate prevacuum steam sterilizers gas plasma sterilizer washer sterilizers and decontaminators. Testing sterilizers and maintaining accurate records.
  3. Possess an understanding of cleaning protocols for particular instruments. Familiar with cleaning agents and detergents and use appropriately.
  4. Visually inspects all instruments for cleanliness proper function and wear before assembly.
  5. Assembles instrument trays and equipment according to assembly directory. Wraps or pouches items according to size and type of instrument or equipment using appropriate wrapping techniques.
  6. Understands and runs varied and particular tests using internal external and biological tests. Must be able to read and interpret all parameters for all types of sterilizers to insure proper function.
  7. Oversees junior personnel in the absence of Supervisor.
  8. Able to do minor troubleshooting of equipment and determine when professional service technicians are needed.
  9. Maintain a constant supply of reusable sterile linen.
  10. Maintain and distribute sterile supplies.
  11. Greet/receive customers answer phone.
  12. Must have knowledge of and practice Universal Precautions.
  13. Performs all other related duties assigned.
Requirements
  • Certification as a Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician
  • Proficient in both areas of Central Sterile
  • High School Diploma

This job is typically required to perform work through eye/hand/foot coordination most of a normal workday.
