The Certified Nursing Assistant is a single level classification. Incumbents perform work responsibilities under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) classification is distinguished from the Nursing and Medical Assistant classification series in that the CNA classification does not require a nursing license or Medical Assistant certification/registration.

To learn more please visit DutiesAssist healthcare personal with medication administration observation and preparation. Provide functional assistance to patients including bathing dressing and eating lifting or repositioning patients into bed wheelchairs etc. Assist in patient flow of clinic including vital signs and scheduling. Collect and record vital signs including temperature heart rate respirations blood pressure and pulse oximetry. Respond to inquiries by phone and in person; monitor and identify patients needs and refer to health care professionals when necessary. Evaluate intake data for health risk factors and program eligibility using established protocols. Interview patients for medical dietary and social history. Clean stock and setup patient rooms or other care settings including laundry services and equipment. Assist healthcare personnel with laboratory specimen processing and transport. Assist with blood glucose testing. Order inventory and maintain clinical laboratory and general supplies. Enter data into electronic health records and other databases. Transport medications and other supplies to and from work site. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills
Requirements:- Possess a Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification in good standing
- Documentation of current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification with AED requirement.
- Washington State Drivers License or the ability to provide transportation to work locations.
- Successfully pass background credentialing and pre-employment physical.
Desired Qualifications:- Experience working in correctional facility and/or in acute care settings.
- Demonstrate experience working with a diverse and underserved population.
- Bilingual and/or bicultural
- Willing to provide full spectrum of options counseling.
Work Schedule:These are 0.8 - 1.0 FTE career service fully benefited positions that are overtime eligible.These positions can be on day evening or night shift. The candidate must be able to work all shifts depending on shift availability.
Note:This recruitment will be used to create an eligibility pool to fill additional Career Service Term-Limited Temporary (TLT) or Special Duty Assignment (SDA) vacancies that may occur over the next six months.Interviews for these opportunities will be conducted August 31st and September 1st-3rd.Work Location:King County Correctional Facility 500 5th Avenue Seattle WA 98104 and/or Maleng Regional Justice Center 620 W James St. Kent WA 98032.

A Jail Nurse Practitioner may be required to report to the jails or alternative sites in the event of an emergency situation (including Public Health emergencies). Staff may be required to play an active role in the event of a public health emergency which mayinclude changes in responsibilities work location and working hours.
Legal Requirements for JHS Employees
Jail Health Services follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including but not limited to Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. PREA standards preclude the department from hiring or promoting anyone who has engaged in or been convicted of any conduct which would violate PREA standards related to sexual assault including:- Sexual abuse in a prison jail lockup community confinement facility juvenile facility or other institution.
- Engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force overt or implied threats of force or coercion or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or
- Civil or administrative adjudication that the candidate has engaged in the activity described above.
- PREA standards require that the department consider any incidents of sexual harassment involving an inmate or detainee in determining whether to hire or promote anyone. This is in compliance with PREA and its implementing regulations 28 C.F.R. Part 115 Subpart A Section 115.17 Hiring and Promotion Decisions.
