The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is dedicated to protecting and promoting the health of Virginians. The VDH is made up of a statewide Central Office in Richmond and 35 local health districts.

The Mount Rogers Health District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nurse Practitioner to join our mobile health unit this unique and community focused role you will provide direct patient care on our mobile unit primarily based in Washington County and Bristol City. This position offers the opportunity to deliver high quality healthcare services to diverse populations across the region helping expand access to essential medical care.

As a Nurse Practitioner on our mobile unit you will perform physical examinations order and interpret diagnostic tests and complete nursing assessments. You may also perform point of care lab tests take measurements develop and implement individualized care plans administer medications and participate in case management activities. This role requires licensure as a Certified Nurse Practitioner in accordance with Virginia state regulations.

** This is a restricted position which is solely funded by the Opioid Abatement Authority for 1-year period ending 6/30/2027. The availability of funding is scheduled for review before the grant expiration date and periodically thereafter. Continued employment is contingent on the continued availability of funds.**

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum KSAs:
Knowledge of clinical medicine and clinical skills in pediatrics family planning gynecological services STI and adult health services
Knowledge of nursing physical examination techniques and findings both normal and pathological disease states diagnostic testing and limits of testing and pharmacology
Skills in interviewing counseling effective written and verbal communication
Ability to perform and interpret physical assessments obtain medical history perform and/or interpret diagnostic testing formulate differential diagnoses and plan of care and provide health education to clients
Ability to work independently; ability to problem solve and to work effectively with others in a team environment
Current CPR/BLS certification
