Oversees sterile processing staff performing the processing sterilization and distribution of instruments and supplies ensuring efficient and safe patient care.

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

Provides supervision for sterile processing staff and oversees the daily activities and scheduling of the team.
Ensures adherence to safety standards and quality metrics for processing and providing sterilized instruments needed for patient care. Monitors compliance with sterilization policies and procedures and record keeping.
Coordinates training and evaluation of instrument technicians. Serves as a resource and model assisting as needed.
Maintains Sterile Processing Microsystem (SPM) Instrument Tracking System files and reports and collaborates with healthcare professionals to ensure that sterile instruments and equipment are available when needed.
Coordinates the repair of critical patient care items and instrumentation.
Maintains assigned work areas and equipment in a clean organized and safe environment.

Education Requirement:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelors Degree in relevant field preferred.

Licensure Requirement:

Certifications:

Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred.

Skills:

Working knowledge of the standards of infection control.

Experience:

Three years of instrument or case cart processing experience or operating room experience preferred.
Two years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Experience as a sterile processing technician preferred.
