Position Summary

The Center for California Studies Program Coordinator (Administrator Support Coordinator II) position coordinates implements and assists in the critical administrative functions of the Center for California Studies including the Capital Fellows Programs. The incumbent will provide support to all Center programs projects and events and may be assigned a variety of other work in support of Center-related initiatives.

FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime compensation)

Anticipated Hiring Range:$4543 per month (Step 3) -$5762 per month (Step 15)

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4367 per month (Step 1) -$6362 per month (Step 20)

Salary step placement will be determined based on relevant qualifications and professional experience.

The Center for California Studies is based at Sacramento State the Capital Campus of the California State University.

Being located in Californias capital strategically positions the Center to be the link between the University and the three branches of Californias government think tanks other universities and outside partnerships involved with public service in California. This paired with our extensive research academic programming and position as part of the countrys largest public university system makes us uniquely equipped to fulfill our mission to bridge academia and government in the service of strengthening Californias democracy.

Qualifications

Entry to this classification requires a fully functional knowledge of and skill in standard office procedures and practices as well as an ability to understand and operate in a variety of organizational structures. Additionally incumbents are expected to have a thorough knowledge of English grammar spelling and punctuation and be able to clearly communicate orally and in writing. Some positions may require a knowledge of business mathematics beyond basic arithmetic. The ability to use and quickly learn new office support technology systems and software packages is also a prerequisite.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through a high school program technical/vocational program or their equivalents combined with several years of related office work experience.

RequiredQualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar punctuation and spelling.
  • Thorough knowledge of office systems and ability to use a broader range of technology systems and packages such as Microsoft Office systems (Word Excel Access PowerPoint and Publisher).
  • Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects from different managers.
  • Ability to apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist.
  • Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures.
  • Ability to perform business math such as calculate ratios and percentages track financial data and make simple projections.
  • Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports.
  • Ability to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature.
  • Ability to coordinate a high volume of travel and scheduling needs for multiple parties.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to troubleshoot/ solve problems without supervision.
  • Ability to exercise appropriate judgement as needed to work and solve problems independently especially as it relates to compliance with university travel requirements.
  • Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment withdiverse colleagues and constituents including faculty students staff and members of the community.

PreferredQualifications

  • Experience working in an institution of higher education.
  • Familiarity with California state government including procedures and protocols of Californias three branches of government.
