CDD is seeking a compassionate skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide hands-on clinical care staff education and training and health support for individuals with developmental disabilities across our residential community-based day habilitation and school programs.

Working under the supervision and clinical oversight of a Registered Nurse and the Director of Nursing youll play an important role in monitoring individual health supporting medication administration and staff competency providing approved staff training and performing routine clinical tasks that make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people we serve.

This position may also provide nursing support within CDDs Rainbow Center and other school-based programs helping meet the health needs of students with developmental disabilities during the school day.

What Youll Do
Clinical Care
- Provide basic nursing care to clients as directed by an RN and within the scope of the LPN license.
- Monitor client health and record vitals as necessary.
- Assist with doctors appointments as requested.
- Complete Abnormal Involuntary Movement Scale (AIMS) assessments as requested.
- Assist with wound care including dressing changes and skin assessments.
- Assist with Health Risk Screening Tool (HRST) assessments as allowed by the Department of Mental Health.
Staff Training & Medication Administration
- Provide nurse delegation trainings to direct support staff.
- Teach Level I Medication Aide initial and recertification classes in accordance with Missouri Department of Mental Health requirements.
-Assist with simulated medication passes and staff competency validation as assigned.
- Complete immunizations per CDC and Department of Mental Health guidelines.
- Assist in destroying expired discontinued and/or unused medications as requested.
-Provide nursing support in CDD school-based programs as assigned.
Documentation & Communication
- Accurately document activities in each individuals chart.
- Accurately communicate and document staff training activities.
- Communicate client status and changes to the appropriate RN and team members in a timely manner.
What You Bring

- Graduate from an accredited LPN program and licensed in the State of Missouri.
- Active Level I Medication Administration trainer certification.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid Missouri Class E License or Kansas Class C license.
- Ability to read write speak understand and type in English.
Preferred
- Two or more years of experience working with persons with Intellectual Disabilities Geriatrics or a related field.

- Work Setting: Office and field-based; CDD main office classroom group homes ISL settings and school-based programs across the Kansas City metro.
