Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops secure database architecture using a commercial no-code platform that is easily administered by an in-house data specialist.
  • Audits and documents all data and reporting requests made across an academic year by various stakeholders.
  • Centralizes disparate data formats currently held by multiple parties integrating them cleanly into a unified database structure.
  • Catalogs existing data types formats and sources across multiple parties and establishes security protocols based on institutional data governance requirements.
  • Designs and implements robust data backup and recovery systems.
  • Ensures the system architecture is feature-rich and flexible for a seamless integration with other existing platforms.
  • Implements testing procedures to proactively identify and resolve database errors.
  • Implements web-accessible data analytics and visualization tools tailored for faculty and staff use.
  • Builds specific reporting templates focused on student retention analytics.
  • Creates thorough technical documentation data dictionaries and user guides to ensure smooth handoff.
  • Trains administrators and users on how to use the system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Possession of baccalaureate degree in Computer Science Information Technology Data Analytics Database Administration or Management Information System and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for database design development and data modeling (e.g. SQL PostgreSQL MySQL).

  2. Considerable working knowledge ofdatabase design development and data modelingas demonstrated by the broad knowledge and understanding of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving information technology concepts principles and methodology.

  3. Considerable working knowledge and understanding of the broad technology systems hardware and software associated withdatabase design development and data modeling.

  4. Demonstrated ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes and apply principles and practices to determine evaluate integrate and implement practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.

  5. Proven ability to comprehend interpret and implement administrative directives and guidance to ensure IT operations align with organizational standards and industry best practices.

  6. Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.

  7. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team leaders and members and individuals.

  8. Demonstrated experience in ETL (Extract Transform Load) processes specifically merging disparate data formats and consolidating decentralized data silos.

  9. Demonstrated experience in building or integrating web front-ends with databases and implementing data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI Tableau or custom web-based dashboards).

  10. Demonstrated understanding of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA.).


Desirable Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal and written skills to translate complex technical data concepts into actionable advice for non-technical users.

  • Project experience using any of the following platforms: Airtable Knack Smartsheet Tableau
