Case Reopening Assistant
Fayetteville, GA - USA
Job Summary
A customer replies after a support case was closed and says the issue continues. The Case Reopening Assistant reads the new message connects it with the earlier online record and routes it according to the employers reopening rules. This part-time remote role does not decide that a concern is resolved or automatically reopen every unrelated question. It combines customer service with accurate office administration.
Read the previous resolution and the customers new information. The person might report that the suggested step did not work or ask a separate question. Record the distinction. If the original case can be reopened under the teams process update the status and assign the right owner. If a new case is needed link the history so the customer does not have to repeat everything. Do not erase the earlier closure date or imply the person agreed with it.
A brief acknowledgement should tell the customer the new message was received and what administrative step follows. If the content suggests urgency use the designated escalation. When another agent is already responding avoid a duplicate generic email. An organized history helps the next colleague understand what was tried why the case closed and what remains unanswered now.
Review assigned replies to closed online support cases. Match the message to the correct customer and earlier case. Identify a continuing issue or a distinct new request.
Apply the permitted reopen or linked-case status. Preserve the customers new details in their own words. Route an urgent or sensitive concern to the designated team.
Note the next owner and avoid duplicate acknowledgements.
Prior customer service or office administration experience is helpful but not required. The company will train beginners on its statuses privacy rules and escalation path. You should be able to read a conversation thread carefully and write a concise note without declaring a problem fixed on someone elses behalf.
The opening is part-time and remote paying $29 per hour. A private home office or equivalent setting supports customer records. The employer will confirm its hours and software.
A closed case may have an automated survey or follow-up attached to it. When the customer reports an ongoing problem flag any conflicting message schedule for the case owner so the person does not receive a satisfaction request while seeking help. If a different team handled the original case preserve that history and route the new information according to current ownership rules. Do not assume the original agent is still available.
The customers reply may contain a screenshot date or new reference number. Attach it securely to the appropriate case and state what it adds. If the message is simply a thank-you or an unrelated question use the employers guide for those situations. A reopen status should reflect a real continuing issue rather than every late email. The ability to separate these paths helps the team prioritize honestly. When an issue is referred record the owner and next action so the case does not simply move from one closed queue to another with no one responsible.
You may also be asked to check a small batch of reopened cases for missing owners. This is practical follow-through not a decision about the final outcome. A clear trail lets the next customer-facing colleague acknowledge what happened earlier and start from the right point.
A relevant example may be following up when an earlier solution failed. You could draw it from work school or volunteering. Explain how you kept the history clear for the next person. If the hiring team advances you it may ask you to apply through the companys website. The support team will describe its case workflow during selection.
