Description

The Refugee and Immigrant Services Case Manager is a multifaceted role that meets the needs of refugee and immigrant services clients as well as those of LSC clients experiencing refugee resettlement in North and South Carolina. Through the Refugee Services Programs Case Manager facilitates successful integration by assessing barriers to self-sufficiency and partnering with clients to overcome identified barriers. Services may include referrals to external service providers connection with public benefits housing assistance community orientation English language training transportation and more. Case Manager assists clients with significant medical conditions through Enhanced Cultural Orientation service facilitation and direct service provision.

Essential Functions:

  • Follow all Lutheran Services Carolinas policies and procedures.
  • Deliver professional confidential trauma-informed and culturally and socioeconomically sensitive case management services.
  • Manage Refugee Services Program cases ensuring adequate and timely delivery of services as dictated by Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR)
  • program guidelines government agencies funders/contractors and as required by LSC standards and procedures.
  • Coordinate and provide initial airport transportation for refugees through the
  • Reception and Placement Program and/or as assigned.
  • Develop and document a budget for each case with expenditures and dates.
  • Assist in securing housing for refugees and ensure that housing is fully furnished.
  • Collaborate with LSC teammates to develop and implement effective plans for overcoming barriers to care experienced by clients with significant
  • medical conditions.
  • Document and report information related to client services in accordance with contractual and HIPAA guidelines.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks to ensure timely services and documentation.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients colleagues volunteers partnering agencies and funders.


Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree with human services experience preferred Two years equivalent education and experience in the human services field are
considered

Experience: Multilingual skills preferred. Cross-cultural experience or work with displaced people preferred. Knowledge of local community resources preferred

Specific skills/abilities: Reads writes and speaks English proficiently. Navigates computers and Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint adequately. Exhibits strong problem-solving skills. Balances and prioritizes competing demands effectively. Adheres to rigid documentation requirements. Maintains awareness and sensitivity to the cultural and socio-economic characteristics of service populations. Operates from a trauma informed care perspective. Exhibits compassion discretion and flexibility. Possesses insight into human behavior and motivation

Specialized knowledge licenses etc.: Valid NC or SC drivers license. Minimum age of
21 years
