Column Technical Services is seeking for aCAS Associate / Staff Accountant to join a dynamic Client Advisory Services team where youll gain hands-on experience supporting clients across multiple industries in Lincolnshire IL. This is a hybrid opportunity. Local Illinois candidates are preferred as periodic visits to the office will be necessary.
The successful candidate will possess a solid accounting background strong analytical skills and a desire to grow within a client-focused public accounting environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to a variety of client accounting and advisory service engagements.
- Assist in completing monthly close activities and preparing accurate financial reports.
- Develop financial projections perform financial analyses and generate key performance metric reports.
- Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger balances to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Support day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Assist with payroll-related accounting activities and retirement plan contribution processing.
- Maintain detailed supporting schedules and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Prepare and support various tax filings including Formspayroll tax and sales tax submissions.
- Participate in annual audit preparation and assist with transaction-related accounting projects.
- Support accounting cleanup efforts and help establish improved accounting methodologies and controls.
- Assist clients with U.S. GAAP adoption conversions and related accounting requirements.
- Contribute to business process enhancements and accounting software implementation initiatives.
- Educate and support clients regarding accounting workflows best practices and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with clients and internal team members to address accounting and financial matters.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of professional accounting experience; applicable internship experience will also be considered.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related accounting-focused field.
- CPA eligible with plans to pursue certification; active CPA designation is a plus.
- Strong understanding of accounting standards financial reporting practices and general accounting concepts.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional client service.
- Proven ability to manage multiple assignments client relationships and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
