Job Overview
Under general supervision the Garbage Can Puller is responsible for pulling garbage cans for the residents of West Monroe from their home to the roadside for garbage collection. May also be asked to return cans for some citizens.
Specific Tasks Duties & Responsibilities
- Walk assigned collection routes to locate residential garbage containers.
- Move garbage containers from residences to the roadside and position them for automatedcollection.
- Return garbage containers to residences when assigned.
- Remove small amounts of debris around collection areas as needed to support a clean workenvironment.
- Read route maps and follow assigned collection routes.
- Work in a team setting assisting others as needed to complete daily assignments.
- Provide courteous and professional customer service when interacting with residents.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Worker Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Louisiana drivers license.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to read maps and navigate assigned routes.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to interact professionally with the public.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to walk long distances throughout the workday.
- Ability to push pull and maneuver large residential garbage containers.
- Ability to perform continuous physical activity in outdoor environments.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions including heat cold rain humidity and otherenvironmental conditions.
Hours/Scheduling
- Part-time position.
- Typical work schedule is Monday through Friday including designated holidays.
- Workday begins at 5:30 a.m. and continues until the assigned route is completed.
- Overtime or schedule adjustments may be required based on operational needs.
