CAMPUS SECURITY SPECIALISTBASIC FUNCTION:Under the direction of an Assistant Principal patrol and supervise campus activities to assure the well-being and safety of students staff and visitors in school-site activities; assure student compliance with school and District policies and DUTIES:Patrol and supervise assigned areas of campus assuring students are safe orderly and within supervised areas; assure non-students on campus are authorized visitors; monitor campus perimeter lunch areas walkways hallways classrooms gates restrooms parking lots and adjacent areas. EEnforce school and District rules regulations and procedures; investigate and report unusual suspicious or criminal activities; detain individuals suspected of illegal or prohibited activity according to established procedures; direct unauthorized visitors off campus. EMonitor student behavior and activity during passing periods and lunchtime; assure compliance with school rules; prevent or break up student conflicts and fights; investigate and report instances of graffiti and vandalism; prepare student referrals as necessary. EEscort and direct authorized visitors to desired destinations; provide general information and assistance; direct vehicle traffic as needed; escort delinquent students to and from administration offices; retrieve students as requested by administrators. EPrevent unauthorized departure of students from school premises; verify off-campus and lunch passes as required; assure students have proper permission slips outside of classrooms during instruction periods. EAssist with directing and monitoring traffic as needed; assure security of cars on campus; assist in preparing and enforcing parking restrictions and regulations; prepare and process parking citations and warnings. EAssist in the search of backpacks cars clothing and lockers for alcohol weapons drugs drug paraphernalia and other related articles according to established procedures and District policies; confiscate contraband and submit to appropriate personnel. EPrepare student referrals as appropriate; prepare incident reports; maintain various records related to assigned activities. ECommunicate with District personnel students and outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns. EOperate a two-way radio golf cart and other equipment as assigned. EProvide security at athletic events dances and other special events as assigned. EParticipate in a variety of other assigned activities such as resolving locker problems maintaining the lost and found monitoring unsupervised classrooms in-school suspension and Saturday school and implementing disciplinary actions. EReport and respond to safety sanitary fire hazards and maintenance and repair needs to appropriate authority. EProvide assistance to staff during emergency situations as necessary; administer basic first aid to students and staff as necessary. EPerform related duties as AND ABILITIES:KNOWLEDGE OF:Basic methods of individual and group interests attitudes and emotional development of and written communication and safety skills using tact patience and record-keeping first aid and CPR TO:Patrol and supervise campus activities to assure the well-being and safety of students staff and visitors in non-classroom student compliance with school and District rules and occurrences of property damage and suspicious or criminal interpret apply and explain rules regulations and or break up student conflicts and and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with and follow oral and written to operate a two-way radio computers and other assigned routine records related to assigned appropriate action within clearly defined effectively both orally and in health and safety first aid and AND EXPERIENCE:Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and demonstrated ability to work effectively with high school AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized CONDITIONS:ENVIRONMENT:Indoor and outdoor heat and cold or adverse weather a vehicle to conduct DEMANDS:Standing and walking for extended periods of to monitor student and speaking to exchange of hands and fingers to operate a agility and :Potential physical hazards involved in intervening in fights and other anti-social illegal and violent with persons under the influence of dangerous substances or abusive individuals.

Examination procedures are subject to change as deemed necessary by the Director- Personnel Classification Salary Range: $20.44 - $26.17 per hourAnticipated Hiring Salary Rage: $20.44 per hour (Step 1) - $24.91 per hour (Step 4)Limited Term (Substitute) Salary Range: $20.44 (Step 1)Candidates who pass all of the examination processes are ranked on an eligibility list according to their score(s). Selection for the position will be made from among the top three (3) ranks of candidates. The eligibility list will be used for hiring purposes in other vacancies in the same or equivalent job classification and will be active for six (6) months (Merit Rule 50.100.1).

**Most positions in this classification work at Middle School & High Schools between 6 and 7 hours per day exact shifts may vary. ***The current vacancies are located at Mt. Carmel High School (Traditional Schedule) and Career Technical Adult Education (CTAE) Campus (Modified Schedule).Traditional Schedule - Monday - Friday 30-35 hours per week 9.5 months per yearModified Schedule - 18 hours per week 9.5 months per year; Week 1: Monday - Thursday 5:45pm - 9:15pm and Saturday 8:30am - 12:30pm. Week 2: Monday - Thursday 5:00pm - 9:30pm*** This alternating schedule may at times include not having two (2) consecutive days off***Classified staff working in this job classification who possess a valid and current 4 year degree or higher AND have passed the CBEST will automatically be placed at Step 6 of the salary range designated for this classification. You must provide official sealed transcripts sent directly to the Personnel Commission (via email or physical mail). TRANSCRIPTS NOT SENT DIRECTLY TO THE PERSONNEL COMMISSION WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED SEALED AND WILL BE assigned to work a regular schedule 50% or more of the work hours between 5pm and 8am shall receive shift differential pay of 5% of their regular salary. Positions greater than 20 hours per week are benefits eligible.
